What is a Shop Steward?
Shop Stewards are members of Local 5047, who have received training from CUPE NS in knowing how to support members in meetings with management. Shop Stewards are members who will keep your situation confidential and will provide you support before, during, and after your meeting with your supervisor.
When to request a Shop Steward?
We encourage all our members to have shop steward representation at any meeting that you feel a supervisor could bring up your job performance, especially if there is a chance of a disciplinary outcome. In the event you are in this situation, you can email Sherri LeBlanc (Lead Shop Steward) at lscupe5047@gmail.com, who will find a shop steward who is available to attend a meeting with you.
